Ashirvad, Astral, or Supreme: Comparing the Three Major Pipe Brands

Quick answer: For most Bengaluru homes, choose Ashirvad CPVC when fitting availability and plumber familiarity matter most, Astral CPVC for comparable quality at a better price, and Supreme or Ashirvad SWR for drainage. Ashirvad and Astral both use Lubrizol FlowGuard CPVC compound, and Ashirvad tends to carry a slight premium over Astral. Whichever brand you pick, use it for the entire system.
Most plumbing enquiries we get at our Viveknagar counter involve one of three brands: Ashirvad, Astral, or Supreme. They are the brands your plumber will specify by name, the ones most often listed on architect drawings, and the ones with the widest distribution across Karnataka. But they are not identical, and knowing their differences helps you make better procurement decisions and have more informed conversations with your plumber or contractor.
This comparison covers each brand's product strengths, the categories where they lead, and practical notes that matter when you are buying in Bengaluru.
Ashirvad: the CPVC market leader in India
Ashirvad Pipes, now part of Aliaxis, is the best-known pipe brand in the Indian residential market. Their FlowGuard Plus CPVC system, which they license from Lubrizol (the global CPVC compound manufacturer), is specified more often than any other CPVC brand in Bengaluru. This is partly due to decades of marketing and partly because the product has earned its reputation through consistent quality and a very complete range of fittings.
The Ashirvad fitting range is a key practical advantage. For CPVC plumbing you need not just straight pipes but a large number of elbows, tees, reducers, unions, ball valves, and adapters in multiple configurations. Ashirvad's fittings catalogue covers virtually every configuration a plumber would need, and because the brand has deep market penetration, these fittings are available at most trade counters across Bengaluru without special ordering.
Ashirvad also makes a strong uPVC range for cold water supply and a PVC SWR range. Their SWR fittings are reliable and the brand's distribution means good stocking at most dealers. For a project where the architect or plumber has not specified a brand, Ashirvad CPVC is a safe default that any plumber in Bengaluru will be comfortable working with.

Astral: competitive CPVC at a strong price point
Astral Pipes entered the CPVC market after Ashirvad but has built a strong position, particularly in Maharashtra and Karnataka. Their CPVC compound also uses Lubrizol FlowGuard technology, which means the base material quality is comparable. Astral is competitive on price and often offers better rates than Ashirvad on comparable sizes, which makes them popular with budget-conscious contractors and self-build projects.
Astral's fittings range is also comprehensive, though some very specific fitting configurations are occasionally easier to source from Ashirvad simply because of Ashirvad's longer market presence. For standard residential work (the half-inch and three-quarter-inch CPVC runs that make up most of a 2BHK or 3BHK plumbing system), Astral covers everything you need.
Astral also has a strong CPVC ball valve and fitting product line that is well regarded by trade customers. Their SWR range is present but somewhat less dominant than Ashirvad in the Bengaluru market. For projects where cost management is important and the plumber is comfortable with the brand, Astral is a sound choice.

Supreme: the SWR and uPVC specialist
Supreme Industries is one of India's largest plastics manufacturers and their pipes division covers a wide range of products. In Bengaluru, Supreme is most frequently specified for PVC SWR drainage pipes and uPVC pressure pipes for cold water supply. Their SWR Type A and Type B ranges are widely used in both residential and commercial projects.
Supreme SWR fittings (particularly their bends, traps, and inspection chambers) are well regarded for dimensional consistency and the robustness of the socket joints. For large drainage projects with many fittings, Supreme is a reliable choice that is competitively priced in the 75mm to 160mm range.
Supreme also makes CPVC pipes and fittings, but their CPVC range is less dominant in the Bengaluru market than Ashirvad or Astral. Plumbers are less likely to have deep familiarity with Supreme CPVC, which matters because CPVC installation requires the plumber to follow the correct solvent cement and jointing procedures for that specific brand.
For uPVC cold water pressure pipes, Supreme offers a good range in IS 4985 standard. Their larger-diameter uPVC pipes for main supply lines are commonly used in housing layouts and commercial buildings across Karnataka.

How to choose for a specific project
For a residential project with both hot and cold water plumbing, the most practical approach is to pick one brand for the entire system and stick to it. Mixing CPVC brands is not technically wrong if the fittings are properly sized, but it creates complexity on site and makes warranty or defect resolution harder.
If your plumber has a strong preference, respect it. A plumber who has worked extensively with Ashirvad fittings will make faster, more reliable joints than one who is less familiar with the product. Slowing down a plumber to make them use an unfamiliar brand to save a few percent on material costs usually costs more in labour time than it saves in materials.
For drainage, the brand choice is less critical than the sizing and fitting selection. Supreme, Ashirvad, and Astral SWR pipes all perform well when installed correctly. Focus instead on ensuring the right fitting configurations are on site before work starts: missing a specific bend or a trap can hold up a day's work.

Pricing and availability in Bengaluru
All three brands are available at authorised trade counters across Bengaluru, including at AR Trading Company in Viveknagar. Prices vary by product category and fluctuate with raw material costs. As a rough guide, Ashirvad CPVC tends to carry a slight premium over Astral, while Supreme SWR is competitive across the board.
For bulk orders or project procurement, it is worth requesting quotes across brands on the same specification. The differences are often smaller than expected, and the availability of the full fitting range for your chosen brand matters more than a small price difference on the pipe itself.
Dealer certificates for all three brands are available at our counter in Viveknagar. If you are buying for a large project and want to verify authorised dealer status, which matters for warranty purposes, ask your supplier to show the relevant certificate.
What the warranty covers
All three brands offer manufacturer warranties on their CPVC and PVC products against manufacturing defects. The warranty does not cover damage from improper installation, use of incorrect solvent cement, physical damage, or installation outside the product's rated temperature and pressure range.
For warranty claims, you typically need proof of purchase and the original product packaging or batch code. For large projects, keep a record of the batch codes and purchase invoices. In practice, manufacturing defects in pipes from these brands are rare; most failures in the field are installation-related rather than product-related.
If a defect does arise, contact the dealer you purchased from. At AR Trading Company we assist customers in liaising with the manufacturer where needed, though for manufacturing defects the fastest route is often directly through the brand's regional office.
Our recommendation
For most Bengaluru residential projects: Ashirvad CPVC for hot and cold water plumbing if fitting availability and plumber familiarity are priorities, Astral CPVC if you want comparable quality at a better price point, and Supreme or Ashirvad SWR for drainage.
