Ashirvad vs Sintex vs Supreme Water Tanks: How to Choose

Quick answer: All three make good roto-moulded multi-layer tanks, so the specification and where the tank sits matter more than the brand. For a Bengaluru terrace in full sun, we would pick the Ashirvad 4-layer, rated up to 15°C cooler; in a shaded spot with daily supply, any of the three brands' standard tanks will serve. Sintex has the broadest range of shapes, and Supreme is the same brand as the pipe in many Bengaluru houses.
We stock Ashirvad, so read this knowing where we stand. But we have been selling pipe in Bengaluru long enough to know that Sintex and Supreme make good tanks too, and that most of what separates a good tank from a bad one is not the brand. It is the specification you choose and where you put it. Here is how to compare them properly.
What all three have in common
All three are roto-moulded from polyethylene in one seamless piece, sold in multi-layer construction with a UV-stabilised outer wall, in the same familiar capacities, and available across the city. All three publish a multi-year warranty. On the fundamentals (will it hold water and survive the sun), a correctly specified tank from any of them will.

Where they differ
| What to compare | Ashirvad | Sintex | Supreme |
|---|---|---|---|
| Layer options | 3-layer standard; 4-layer with foam insulation | Wide range from economy to multi-layer premium lines | Multi-layer ranges, strong in the mid-market |
| Insulation | 4-layer foam core, rated up to 15°C cooler by Ashirvad | Offered on premium lines | Offered on selected lines |
| Inner-wall hygiene | Antimicrobial (silver-ion) inner layer on the standard range | Food-grade inner layer; antimicrobial on some lines | Food-grade inner layer |
| Capacities | 500 L to 10,000 L overhead; 2,000–4,750 L modular underground | The broadest range in the market, including loft and horizontal shapes | Standard household and commercial sizes |
| Underground option | Aquafer modular polymer sump | Underground tanks available | Limited |
| Pairs with | Ashirvad CPVC/uPVC fittings; warranty terms reference using Ashirvad fittings | Any fittings | Supreme's own pipe systems or any fittings |
| List price per litre (1,000 L, 3-layer) | ₹15.20 (Aug 2026 list) | Varies by line; typically in the same band | Varies by line; typically in the same band |
Sintex's edge is range: if you need an odd shape for a loft or a lorry, they probably make it. Supreme's edge is being the same brand as the pipe in a great many Bengaluru houses. Ashirvad's edge is the insulated 4-layer tank and the antimicrobial inner wall as standard rather than as a premium extra, and the modular underground Aquafer.

The six checks that matter more than the brand
- Count the layers and ask what each does. "3-layer" and "4-layer" are not standardised terms. Ask specifically whether there is an insulation layer, and whether the inner layer is food-grade and antimicrobial.
- Weigh it. Wall thickness is what you are paying for, and it shows up in the empty weight. Two 1,000 L tanks that differ by five kilograms differ in how many summers they will last.
- Look at the lid. A threaded, close-fitting lid keeps out mosquitoes, dust and light. A loose press-on cap is a mosquito nursery.
- Read the warranty terms, not the number. Fifteen years on paper can carry conditions on installation, fittings and colour. Ashirvad's, for example, references the use of Ashirvad pipes, fittings and solvent cement.
- Price per litre, at the size you need. Brands discount big tanks differently. Divide the price by the litres and compare that, not the sticker.
- Service. A tank is a twenty-year purchase from a dealer you may never see again. Buy from someone who will still answer the phone about a cracked nipple in year six.

Our recommendation, honestly
For a Bengaluru terrace in full sun, the Ashirvad 4-layer is the tank we would put on our own roof, because the insulation is the one feature you notice every single day of summer. For a shaded position with daily supply, any of the three brands' standard multi-layer tanks will serve, and the deciding factor should be the six checks above and whoever gives you the straighter answer on the phone.
If you are also replacing pipe, keeping the tank and the fittings in one brand family simplifies the warranty conversation. That is true of Ashirvad and it is true of Supreme.
Sizing comes first
Whichever brand, buy the right size before the right brand: our tank sizing guide gives the litres for each family size and supply pattern, and the Ashirvad price list shows what each size costs.
AR Trading Company is an authorised Ashirvad dealer in Bengaluru. Every tank above is listed with its current price on our water tank page; ask for a GST quote on the tank plus the nipples, valves and pipe it needs, or talk to us.
